Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about LETC's programs.
Which grades do you teach?
LETC offers Mathematics Through Coding programs for Grades 3–4, Grades 5–6 and Grades 7–8.
Is this a coding course?
No. It is a mathematics program. Coding is the tool students use to explore and demonstrate mathematical ideas, and students are assessed on their mathematics, not their programming.
Does it follow the Ontario curriculum?
Yes. Every program follows the Ontario Mathematics Curriculum, Grades 1–8: Mathematics, 2020, and each lesson names the expectations it covers.
How are classes taught?
Classes are live and online, taught by LETC-trained instructors in individual or small-group sessions of 1–6 students.
How long is a program?
Each program runs 12 weeks, about 24 instructional hours.
How are students placed in a class?
Students are grouped by grade level and mathematical readiness. We start with an assessment of your child's current level so we can place them in the right class.
How are students assessed?
Through problem-solving tasks, quizzes, project applications, instructor observation, oral presentations and a culminating project. Families receive progress reports.
Do we need to buy any software?
No. Students use the learning platform as part of their live class. They do not buy separate access to it.
Can a school or organization partner with LETC?
Yes. See the For Organizations page, or contact us to discuss your students and goals.
How do I get started?
Book an assessment and we will contact you to find the right program.
