About LETC Institute
LETC Institute Ltd. is an Ontario corporation that delivers structured mathematics instruction for students in Grades 3–8.
Our mission
Our mission is to provide structured mathematics instruction that supports student achievement of the Ontario Mathematics Curriculum. Coding is the method we use to support mathematical reasoning, problem solving, modelling and communication.
How we teach
Our courses follow the Ontario Mathematics Curriculum, Grades 1–8: Mathematics, 2020. Each lesson identifies the curriculum expectations it addresses, the learning outcomes, the activities, the assessments and the success criteria.
LETC develops and maintains its own curriculum, lesson plans, instructional resources, assessments and student progress reports. Every class is taught live by an LETC-trained instructor.
Instruction uses the Elm programming language on the stabl.rocks platform, licensed from the STaBL Foundation, a Canadian registered charity. LETC remains responsible for the curriculum, the teaching, the assessment and the evaluation of student work.
What LETC is not
- A standalone coding course or recreational coding club
- A self-directed software product
- A program that sits outside the Ontario Mathematics Curriculum
